We've just completed the build of this tiny home to our exceptionally high McIntyre standard - the Tiny Greenie builds on our vision! Experience warmth and comfort this year in New Zealand’s first European style passive solar tiny house.
Perched high above Wainui Bay you'll experience sunsets over the inlet - the best yet. Surrounded by native bush and the silence that only a remote retreat can deliver.
Tiny Greenie is our latest in our Greenie line of future-thinking eco-homes that you really have to experience first-hand. With a floorspace of 40 square metres (including mezzanines), Tiny Greenie is about as big as tiny gets. This home is sitting on a sturdy dual-axel trailer and can be moved to a new vantage on a whim.
Come stay and find the space to fully appreciate the deep and considered approach to modern low-impact living in a small space.
Take a moment… breathe out… and breathe in the quiet.
Over the water in winter and the mountains in summer. The weather doesn't matter, it'll be just perfect.
Every guest loves our outdoor baths - what's not to love? Steaming hot water, magical views and a quiet moment to just be.
The clear waters around Wainui Bay are ideal for taking a dip. Or you can simply explore the shoreline.
A two hour walk along the coastline from Wainui Bay is Taupo Point pa. Evening picnics at Taupo Point are very special. The beach glows under the fading evening light and the kanuka trees turn a rich, bronze colour which contrasts with the emerald colour of the sea.
Just five minutes from Golden Bay Hideaway. This is one of Golden Bay's must-do short walks. A stunning native bush track along the Wainui River leads to Wainui Falls, the largest falls in Golden Bay - pack for a picnic and a swim.
Walk the remote northern section of the famous Abel Tasman Coast Track from Totaranui back to Golden Bay Hideaway at Wainui. You'll experience the wild beauty, golden sand beaches and clear waters - without the crowds you might encounter further south. It is a beautiful walk!
Having consistent north and north-westerly winds in the main season (September to December) and the still turquoise waters in the lagoon makes it a very attractive spot for freestyle. You can have all conditions in one day, as when the tide goes out there are some nice waves on the main outer beach.
The Abel Tasman National park is a world renowned sea kayaking destination. Golden Bay Hideaway is a perfectly positioned at the northern end of the national park to explore the many beaches, coves and headlands.
There are many days with still waters from December on, and that makes SUPping an awesome experience here. Easily access the many islands and the northern part of the Abel Tasman National Park, exploring its beautiful flora and fauna.
On-site at Golden Bay Hideaway is the best downhill bike park and jumps in the top of the south island. Lovingly crafted by Amani McIntyre. Bring your bike and get professional instruction.
Abel Tasman National Park is loved for its golden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs, and world-famous Abel Tasman Coast Track. With a mild climate and easy access its a good place to visit at any time of the year.
A destination for travellers from around the world, Golden Bay's attraction lies in its remoteness and proximity to internationally significant conservation areas, such as Farewell Spit, Kahurangi National Park and Te Waikoropupu Springs. This plus its relaxed festival atmosphere and friendly culture mean that the population triples during the holiday summer season.

A great place with amazing views, BBQ and hot bath - couldn’t have wished for more. Highly recommend the northern coastal track through Able Tasman from Totaranui to Wainui Bay. Would have loved to stay longer and would come back any time!
This place is a little gem up on a mountain. We loved the location, the winding roads to reach the place. I drank wine in the hot tub while it rained. The yoga mats supplied were a great touch! The host told us about a sweet waterfall hike right down the road, and you can hike Able Tasman nearby. The only thing to make this place better is that it should be my house!
Was INCREDIBLE!! Totally worth it and so glad we got to stay here, highly recommend!!!
A place to relax and unwind and just be. Perfect setting and view, and a great bath to watch the weather roll through.

Tiny greenie eco house is true paradise. This perfect tiny house has everything you need. It is made up to very high standard. The composting toilet was a bit strange to us when we came there, but it works great and we would actually consider ourselves it if we were building a new house. The views are breathtaking and the peace and quiet of the place is superb. Definitely a perfect little hideaway
This place is epic! We booked well in advance for our NZ trip and we were not disappointed. The scenery is stunning. A bath under the stars what more can you ask for!
Absolutely a great stay with incredible views and welcoming hosts. Would definitely recommend for those looking for a quiet, peaceful location, yet still close to restaurants and activities. Will recommend again!
This tiny eco home was the most incredible place we've stayed. A perfect, romantic getaway for our private wedding ceremony. The view of the bay is stunning. The modern simplicity of the home is inspiring. We were blown away! This is a must stay in Golden Bay.
A beautiful cabin in a stunning location. The outside bath was a delight, and the attention to detail in the design of everything was amazing. The location is perfect for exploring both the northern parts of Abel Tasman National Park and golden bay. Highly reccomended.
Amazing views, complete privacy, warm and cosy. Couldn’t have asked for more! I’m recommending to all my friends.
We had a lovely time here. The place is very well put together and thought out. The views are amazing. The bath tub . The kitchen was really well set up too which is rare in air bnbs! They even had salt, pepper and oil. So handy! We really enjoyed exploring golden bay (especially wainui falls!) but the best part was coming back to our beautiful home for the night.
We loved the Tiny Greenie! We stayed for 4 nights in Oct ‘18 and absolutely loved the place. The location is amazing and the views are spectacular. The accommodation is ultra modern, well thought out and super clean. Would not hessite to recommend
Absolutely stunning! Incredible views across the bay and the house itself has been built with such craftsmanship. Far enough away from the town to feel as though you are on your own there but still within drivable distance for the supermarket and restaurants. Perfect for access to Abel Tasman, we had a great walk around the coastal path and explored other close by areas too. Everything we needed was provided and the tub on the veranda was a lovely touch, especially at sunset! We wouldn't hesitate to stay again and were sad to have to leave - thanks so much. What an amazing location! Great modern touches in the house, from the well thought out lighting to the outside bath. Cant wait to stay again!
The Tiny Greenie was an excellent eco-friendly accommodation for us. The energy efficiency of the tiny house is simply amazing. We slept very well under the stars! The place is clean and bright and the view is spectacular. We also enjoyed the solitude and it is very private. Perfect setting for our anniversary!
We stayed at Tiny Greenie for two nights during July. Fantastic place, the view is incredible! Spotlessly clean, amazing design and attention to detail! Would recommend this place to anyone, don’t hesitate to book!
This is an amazing place, I would highly recommend it to anyone! Worth the drive- bring food and wine and settle in to a wonderful experience!
