Tiny Greenie is our latest in our Greenie line of future-thinking eco-homes that you really have to experience first-hand. With a floorspace of 40 square metres (including mezzanines), Tiny Greenie is about as big as tiny gets. This home is sitting on a sturdy dual-axel trailer and can be moved to a new vantage on a whim.

Come stay and find the space to fully appreciate the deep and considered approach to modern low-impact living in a small space.

What To Do

  • Nothing

Take a moment… breathe out… and breathe in the quiet.

  • Beautiful Sunsets

Over the water in winter and the mountains in summer. The weather doesn't matter, it'll be just perfect.

  • Outdoor Bath

Every guest loves our outdoor baths - what's not to love? Steaming hot water, magical views and a quiet moment to just be.

  • Swim in the Sea

The clear waters around Wainui Bay are ideal for taking a dip. Or you can simply explore the shoreline.

  • Walk to Taupo Point

A two hour walk along the coastline from Wainui Bay is Taupo Point pa. Evening picnics at Taupo Point are very special. The beach glows under the fading evening light and the kanuka trees turn a rich, bronze colour which contrasts with the emerald colour of the sea.

  • Walk to Wainui Falls

Just five minutes from Golden Bay Hideaway. This is one of Golden Bay's must-do short walks. A stunning native bush track along the Wainui River leads to Wainui Falls, the largest falls in Golden Bay - pack for a picnic and a swim.

  • North Park Walks

Walk the remote northern section of the famous Abel Tasman Coast Track from Totaranui back to Golden Bay Hideaway at Wainui. You'll experience the wild beauty, golden sand beaches and clear waters - without the crowds you might encounter further south. It is a beautiful walk!

  • Kite Surfing

Having consistent north and north-westerly winds in the main season (September to December) and the still turquoise waters in the lagoon makes it a very attractive spot for freestyle. You can have all conditions in one day, as when the tide goes out there are some nice waves on the main outer beach.

  • Kayaking

The Abel Tasman National park is a world renowned sea kayaking destination. Golden Bay Hideaway is a perfectly positioned at the northern end of the national park to explore the many beaches, coves and headlands.

  • Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

There are many days with still waters from December on, and that makes SUPping an awesome experience here. Easily access the many islands and the northern part of the Abel Tasman National Park, exploring its beautiful flora and fauna.

  • Mountain Bike Park

On-site at Golden Bay Hideaway is the best downhill bike park and jumps in the top of the south island. Lovingly crafted by Amani McIntyre. Bring your bike and get professional instruction.

  • Abel Tasman National Park

Abel Tasman National Park is loved for its golden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs, and world-famous Abel Tasman Coast Track. With a mild climate and easy access its a good place to visit at any time of the year.

  • Golden Bay

A destination for travellers from around the world, Golden Bay's attraction lies in its remoteness and proximity to internationally significant conservation areas, such as Farewell Spit, Kahurangi National Park and Te Waikoropupu Springs. This plus its relaxed festival atmosphere and friendly culture mean that the population triples during the holiday summer season.

This place was everything we were hoping for and more. Such a lovely view of the ocean, and sunset. Beautiful colours at sunrise. We were expecting “tiny” but actually what we got was very spacious. The kitchen is fully equipped to make any meal. Shower was lovely and warm. We were a little worried about the compost toilet but actually it was odourless and quite fun throwing food scraps down there too, such a good idea! Heating worked well and the place is really well insulated so stayed warm for a while. We didn’t want to leave after 2 nights! A real retreat with complete privacy, perfect for a romantic getaway. We will be recommending this place to everyone we know! Thank you!

What can we say? We absolutely loved our stay here. The location and outlook are phenomenal. The bathtub was a highlight. The house itself is actually very spacious. Being 189cm tall I was a little concerned it might feel claustrophobic or cramped but not at all. Fantastic and easy access to Abel Tasman. Very private. Great cooking facilities. Comfy beds. Can’t speak highly enough of this place!

Absolutely perfect!! Already planning a return trip at the end of year! Couldn’t fault a thing! Many Airbnb’s we have been to are very weather dependent when it comes to the experience however this place was perfect in all weather! Bathing in sunshine, rain or wind was perfect! Can not recommend this place enough! Will be back ASAP. 10/10! Thankyou!

A unique and beautifully comfortable place. With all its supreme 'off-grid' credentials there is no lack of luxury. Essentially situated on the North doorstep of the Abel Tasman national paradise the location is sublime. I Found the kitchen really well equipped and set out. My advice would be to stock up on great produce and provisions on the way through Takaka and then advance to a full scale retreat.

This place was absolutely outstanding in so many ways. The concept, the location, the property where it's inserted and it's own vibe. I can't recommend it enough for people to go and enjoy such a peaceful and beautiful place! Well done Lawrence and Kylie for investing in great materials and new technologies to create a beautiful and sustainable environment. We will be looking forward to go back one day!

I honestly can’t rave enough about how amazing my husbands and my stay was here. This home took our expectations and then delivered double. The views are incredible and the space is peaceful for rain or shine as we experienced both. The kitchen is great for cooking and the sound system is a nice touch too. We’re already scheming on how to make this a regular stay when visiting Abel Tasman area.

A perfect place in a beautiful spot. If you have any interest in eco design or just want to emerge yourself in a beautiful corner of New Zealand then book this place now. We have stayed in heaps of airbnb's in NZ over the years with many being outstanding but Lawrence and Kylie's place tops the list. A relaxing soak in the bath on the deck watching the sun going down over Wainui Inlet sipping a NZ Pinot after a tramp in the Abel Tasman NP felt like one of life's great pleasures.

This is such a special place! We spent 5 nights here on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. The house itself is spotless and very stylish and the views are incredible (especially from the bath!). It is very private and relaxing, and a great base to explore Abel Tasman from. Thank you, Lawrence and Kylie, for a wonderful stay!

Can't say enough about this place. So private and relaxing. The photos say it all. High quality finishes in the Eco house made it all the more enjoyable. And whatever you do, don't miss a late night tub to take in the southern night sky. The number of stars is unfathomable! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful spot on the hill! Super stylish and comfortable. Alittle hotter in 30c heat! But still a one of a kind spot to enjoy a sunset in a bathtub with plenty of views.

A great place with amazing views, BBQ and hot bath - couldn’t have wished for more. Highly recommend the northern coastal track through Able Tasman from Totaranui to Wainui Bay. Would have loved to stay longer and would come back any time!

This place is a little gem up on a mountain. We loved the location, the winding roads to reach the place. I drank wine in the hot tub while it rained. The yoga mats supplied were a great touch! The host told us about a sweet waterfall hike right down the road, and you can hike Able Tasman nearby. The only thing to make this place better is that it should be my house!

Tiny greenie eco house is true paradise. This perfect tiny house has everything you need. It is made up to very high standard. The composting toilet was a bit strange to us when we came there, but it works great and we would actually consider ourselves it if we were building a new house. The views are breathtaking and the peace and quiet of the place is superb. Definitely a perfect little hideaway
