What To Do

  • Nothing

Take a moment… breathe out… and breathe in the quiet.

  • Beautiful Sunsets

Over the water in winter and the mountains in summer. The weather doesn't matter, it'll be just perfect.

  • Outdoor Bath

Every guest loves our outdoor baths - what's not to love? Steaming hot water, magical views and a quiet moment to just be.

  • Swim in the Sea

The clear waters around Wainui Bay are ideal for taking a dip. Or you can simply explore the shoreline.

  • Walk to Taupo Point

A two hour walk along the coastline from Wainui Bay is Taupo Point pa. Evening picnics at Taupo Point are very special. The beach glows under the fading evening light and the kanuka trees turn a rich, bronze colour which contrasts with the emerald colour of the sea.

  • Walk to Wainui Falls

Just five minutes from Golden Bay Hideaway. This is one of Golden Bay's must-do short walks. A stunning native bush track along the Wainui River leads to Wainui Falls, the largest falls in Golden Bay - pack for a picnic and a swim.

  • North Park Walks

Walk the remote northern section of the famous Abel Tasman Coast Track from Totaranui back to Golden Bay Hideaway at Wainui. You'll experience the wild beauty, golden sand beaches and clear waters - without the crowds you might encounter further south. It is a beautiful walk!

  • Kite Surfing

Having consistent north and north-westerly winds in the main season (September to December) and the still turquoise waters in the lagoon makes it a very attractive spot for freestyle. You can have all conditions in one day, as when the tide goes out there are some nice waves on the main outer beach.

  • Kayaking

The Abel Tasman National park is a world renowned sea kayaking destination. Golden Bay Hideaway is a perfectly positioned at the northern end of the national park to explore the many beaches, coves and headlands.

  • Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

There are many days with still waters from December on, and that makes SUPping an awesome experience here. Easily access the many islands and the northern part of the Abel Tasman National Park, exploring its beautiful flora and fauna.

  • Mountain Bike Park

On-site at Golden Bay Hideaway is the best downhill bike park and jumps in the top of the south island. Lovingly crafted by Amani McIntyre. Bring your bike and get professional instruction.

  • Abel Tasman National Park

Abel Tasman National Park is loved for its golden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs, and world-famous Abel Tasman Coast Track. With a mild climate and easy access its a good place to visit at any time of the year.

  • Golden Bay

A destination for travellers from around the world, Golden Bay's attraction lies in its remoteness and proximity to internationally significant conservation areas, such as Farewell Spit, Kahurangi National Park and Te Waikoropupu Springs. This plus its relaxed festival atmosphere and friendly culture mean that the population triples during the holiday summer season.

We stayed in the Tiny Greenie which was amazing! Awesome views and the tiny house was perfect! Cosy and well appointed. The outdoor bath was a winner despite the wild weather we had during our 2 night stay. Highly recommend it for a long weekend break away!

So happy with our choice to stay at Tiny Greenie! Lovely space, stunning view from inside and out on deck, big tub, so private (besides lovely birdlife) - loved it. The drive to get there is so scenic too. First experience with a compost toilet, very impressed! Will definitely recommend to others, and might have to come back to Hideaway to try out another space (and tub) ourselves.

This is stunning place. The view is breathtaking. It's quiet and peaceful.

Fantastic little space for a get away. Super friendly Weka came to visit us more than once. The attention to detail in the tiny house is fantastic, and the views are incredible!

Tessa & Taylor

We enjoyed our stay at the tiny greenie in remote Wainui Bay. The outdoor bath and view is terrific, with a lovely Weka family who are always around. The tiny home itself is spacious and skylights above the beds a lovely way to feel closer to nature! Make sure to pack everything you may need as the closest shop is a tiny general store at Pohara, back down a windy (gravel) road. There is no key to lock up so we recommend taking ALL food, produce, toiletries and extra blankets, towels etc you may need etc as if you were camping, as the tiny greenie is very minimal.

It’s absolutely amazing what Lawrence & Kylie have done in terms of concept, designs & decor for these eco-homes. Tiny greenie is small, sleek & compact and can comfortably fit 2 double beds & a well fitted & equipped kitchen. The outdoor bathtub with plenty of hot water available & overlooking Wainui bay was just wonderful. The sky at night was so clear, we could easily the Milky Way. They also have a family of weka birds that were very friendly. The place is about 20 mins drive to Pohara, where you can find a few cafes & a convenience store. The start/end of Abel Tasman trek is just next to Wainui bay, about 5 mins drive.

Great place! Isolated, but still with cell reception! Very private

Inspiring property for anyone interested in tiny house living. 10/10

Well, this place is a little bit special. I booked Tiny Eco because I wanted to celebrate a milestone birthday with a couple of good friends and spend it in a beautiful & quiet part of NZ. Our stay exceeded all expectations and we were so impressed with the location and facilities - the Airbnb photos are beautiful but you HAVE to experience the view in person and the outdoor bath is so nice. Hosts were accessible & available - Lawrence promptly came to help jump start our car after I accidentally left the headlights on overnight. We appreciated everything about this place.

We had a fantastic stay in the Tiny Greenie. The setting is just amazing, with a picturesque view out over Wainui Bay. Our accommodation had everything we needed and we would very happily stay again.

Stayed in Tiny Greenie. Beautiful tony house, stellar views, great communication from our hosts. Would stay again

Such a great little space. Beautiful views, big outdoor tub, and just steps away from the northern end of the Abel Tasman. We love this slice of NZ and there is no better place to stay than here.

Wow, outstanding in every way!!
