We've just completed the build of this tiny home to our exceptionally high McIntyre standard - the Tiny Greenie builds on our vision! Experience warmth and comfort this year in New Zealand’s first European style passive solar tiny house.
Perched high above Wainui Bay you'll experience sunsets over the inlet - the best yet. Surrounded by native bush and the silence that only a remote retreat can deliver.
Tiny Greenie is our latest in our Greenie line of future-thinking eco-homes that you really have to experience first-hand. With a floorspace of 40 square metres (including mezzanines), Tiny Greenie is about as big as tiny gets. This home is sitting on a sturdy dual-axel trailer and can be moved to a new vantage on a whim.
Come stay and find the space to fully appreciate the deep and considered approach to modern low-impact living in a small space.
Take a moment… breathe out… and breathe in the quiet.
Over the water in winter and the mountains in summer. The weather doesn't matter, it'll be just perfect.
Every guest loves our outdoor baths - what's not to love? Steaming hot water, magical views and a quiet moment to just be.
The clear waters around Wainui Bay are ideal for taking a dip. Or you can simply explore the shoreline.
A two hour walk along the coastline from Wainui Bay is Taupo Point pa. Evening picnics at Taupo Point are very special. The beach glows under the fading evening light and the kanuka trees turn a rich, bronze colour which contrasts with the emerald colour of the sea.
Just five minutes from Golden Bay Hideaway. This is one of Golden Bay's must-do short walks. A stunning native bush track along the Wainui River leads to Wainui Falls, the largest falls in Golden Bay - pack for a picnic and a swim.
Walk the remote northern section of the famous Abel Tasman Coast Track from Totaranui back to Golden Bay Hideaway at Wainui. You'll experience the wild beauty, golden sand beaches and clear waters - without the crowds you might encounter further south. It is a beautiful walk!
Having consistent north and north-westerly winds in the main season (September to December) and the still turquoise waters in the lagoon makes it a very attractive spot for freestyle. You can have all conditions in one day, as when the tide goes out there are some nice waves on the main outer beach.
The Abel Tasman National park is a world renowned sea kayaking destination. Golden Bay Hideaway is a perfectly positioned at the northern end of the national park to explore the many beaches, coves and headlands.
There are many days with still waters from December on, and that makes SUPping an awesome experience here. Easily access the many islands and the northern part of the Abel Tasman National Park, exploring its beautiful flora and fauna.
On-site at Golden Bay Hideaway is the best downhill bike park and jumps in the top of the south island. Lovingly crafted by Amani McIntyre. Bring your bike and get professional instruction.
Abel Tasman National Park is loved for its golden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs, and world-famous Abel Tasman Coast Track. With a mild climate and easy access its a good place to visit at any time of the year.
A destination for travellers from around the world, Golden Bay's attraction lies in its remoteness and proximity to internationally significant conservation areas, such as Farewell Spit, Kahurangi National Park and Te Waikoropupu Springs. This plus its relaxed festival atmosphere and friendly culture mean that the population triples during the holiday summer season.

Your Hosts Received…
Super location with stunning views. The tiny greenie had a very nice layout with enough room for 4 adults. We enjoyed our stay and could easily have spent a longer time at Golden Bay Hideaway. Would highly recommend the place.
We absolutely loved this place. It is truly piece of paradise - tranquil, remote, pastoral, quiet and blissfully relaxing. Views are breathtaking and you can really connect with nature as there’s no internet connection. We loved space and design of this place. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
The place was truly perfect. The set up with all the windows to open and views from every corner. The location was perfect right next to Abel Tasman and the wonderful totos pizza. We will be back!
Gorgeous place. The Tiny Greenie is well fitted out. Stylish and comfortable
Sehr toll gelegene Unterkunft, super Aussicht, total einsam und Privat, toller Strand, wir kommen gerne wieder
The most beautiful view! Felt like we where in a slice of paradise. Highly recommend if you want to get away, relax and enjoy nature.
Thanks guys we had a great time
If it’s available, book it. Truly a stunning property and the tiny house doesn’t feel tiny at all. It has all the amenities you could ask for.
WOW is the only thing to say.
Awesome place, perfect retreat centre ☀️ ✨
This place is definitely a place to go if you want to chill out the view is spectacular and very private just the weka’s coming to visit
The location is suitable for people that want to get away from the masses. Best features of the little house, which isn't that tiny really, are the breathtaking views, a bathtub outside and a sky window over the bed offering a look at the stars when you're falling asleep. It's very tidy but we missed small things like a hair dryer or some milk waiting for us in the fridge. Compared to other apartments or houses in New Zealand we would have expected to have these features here too. Having no Wi-Fi, low cell phone reception and no TV, can be a plus these days, enabling you to feel really away from everyday life. We found it great and read books, listened to music or simply enjoyed the view from the bathtub with a glass of wine. This property really is quite unique and is worth booking if you are not completely hooked on 21st century life!
Loved our stay at the Tiny Greenie! It really didn't even feel that tiny for two people since the space was so well thought out. We had plenty of room to store our luggage in the second sleeping area and the compost toilet was surprisingly odor-free. Great launching point for some of the quieter trips into Abel Tasman and complete privacy from the other houses on the property. I'm not sure if it was just the weather we had or the location of the unit being higher up on the hill, but be aware that there can be a bit of wind when trying to use the outdoor bath or grill. We didn't mind at all since the kitchen is well equipped and the bath was lovely in any weather but if that's a concern, they have other houses to choose from. Loved their efforts to be as eco-friendly as possible.
This is a special and spectacular place to stay, you won't regret it.
Fantastic view, beautifully appointed and comfortable accomodation. Highly recommend.
This place is out of the world- very far from everything- and tat is teh charm. It take a while to get here- but that is what provides privacy. The apartment is made so perfectly well- they have thought of everything that one could need. Bring your wine and food as you will not want to leave.... The directions given are perfect follow that to the T- and you will eventually get there.
For a place to relax, unwind and enjoy God’s creation this is one of the best places to do it. Thanks!
Wainui Bay and Tiny Greenie is a magical place. This was our 2nd trip and it was just as delightful the 2nd time around. Beautiful views. Great walks in the area and a really great accommodation set up. Highly recommended! Looking forward to our 3rd visit already.
The tiny greenie is a great place for couples, a group of 4 or a small family! Kitchen is equip with everything you need. Beds are comfy and cozy. Decor and design is relaxing and calming - great for a day of reading and playing board games.
Just a perfect stay!! Everything about Tiny Greenie is pure magic! A once in a lifetime experience.
A beautifully located eco lodge with all the amenities you need in a sustainable way! Many thanks!
Stunning little eco house. We spent a full day napping and reading in the bed with the best view. It was so relaxing. Then we had a bath overlooking the same stunning view. The whole house is so clever. I will definitely be back
Amazing location! Couldn’t fault it. Bath on the deck was an amazing nightly ritual.
The location was fantastic tucked away in a quiet corner of Golden Bay with no neighbours and complete privacy. The accomodation was extremely clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and tea/coffee/oil provided. Absolutely stunning views of Golden Bay. Would highly recommend staying at the Tiny Greenie!
The Tiny House is just beautiful. We absolutely loved staying here and would recommend it over and over again!
The most beautiful Airbnb we've ever stayed at. Stunning views and comfortable accommodation. Loved the outside bath. Cooking basics were provided by the host. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Great location, no complaints...everything was as expected and made for a great stay
Great place for a couple's getaway/ retreat. Beautiful views and secluded setting. Make sure you explore Abel Tasman!
Lovely stay!! The view was stunning and everything was perfect. Loved it!!
Awesome spot with amazing views!
Wow!!! Totally everything we looked forward to and more. The location is spectacular - the outdoor bath is exquisite (and yes there’s heaps of hot water) on sunset with a good glass of red :) Totally private, warm & so many nice little touches. A great getaway - by far the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in :)
Fantastic stay in a very unique Air Bnb. The location was the best bet and of course the outdoor tub, which we used every night. The Tiny House is very well designed and we loved the eco feel of promoting minimal waste. Great start point to check out Abel Tasman NP too. Thanks Lawrence and Kylie
Absolutely amazing stay at the Tiny Greenie. The stars at night were to die for! It was extremely peaceful, warm and relaxing inside the Tiny House.
This place was everything we were hoping for and more. Such a lovely view of the ocean, and sunset. Beautiful colours at sunrise. We were expecting “tiny” but actually what we got was very spacious. The kitchen is fully equipped to make any meal. Shower was lovely and warm. We were a little worried about the compost toilet but actually it was odourless and quite fun throwing food scraps down there too, such a good idea! Heating worked well and the place is really well insulated so stayed warm for a while. We didn’t want to leave after 2 nights! A real retreat with complete privacy, perfect for a romantic getaway. We will be recommending this place to everyone we know! Thank you!
Such a lovely place to stay. Incredible views, very peaceful and private, and a lovely, cosy space for a winter escape. Great amenities and check in process was a breeze.
Absolutely gorgeous spot ! Beautiful home that will blow your mind with all the well thought out amenities an very eco friendly (skylight above both beds and even compostable toilet with zero smell !)Plan your days well as it is on the opposite side to farewell spit. Highly recommend
What can we say? We absolutely loved our stay here. The location and outlook are phenomenal. The bathtub was a highlight. The house itself is actually very spacious. Being 189cm tall I was a little concerned it might feel claustrophobic or cramped but not at all. Fantastic and easy access to Abel Tasman. Very private. Great cooking facilities. Comfy beds. Can’t speak highly enough of this place!
The Truck House is my favorite spot on planet earth. By far the greatest two days of my life.
Great place and great location! Would definitely recommend it !
Absolutely perfect!! Already planning a return trip at the end of year! Couldn’t fault a thing! Many Airbnb’s we have been to are very weather dependent when it comes to the experience however this place was perfect in all weather! Bathing in sunshine, rain or wind was perfect! Can not recommend this place enough! Will be back ASAP. 10/10! Thankyou!
A unique and beautifully comfortable place. With all its supreme 'off-grid' credentials there is no lack of luxury. Essentially situated on the North doorstep of the Abel Tasman national paradise the location is sublime. I Found the kitchen really well equipped and set out. My advice would be to stock up on great produce and provisions on the way through Takaka and then advance to a full scale retreat.
This place was absolutely outstanding in so many ways. The concept, the location, the property where it's inserted and it's own vibe. I can't recommend it enough for people to go and enjoy such a peaceful and beautiful place! Well done Lawrence and Kylie for investing in great materials and new technologies to create a beautiful and sustainable environment. We will be looking forward to go back one day!
Beautiful location. Highly recommended
This is a lovely house and a wonderful location. The lodge has been beautifully designed and the view is spectacular. The bath on the deck outside is a superb touch - watching the stars from the tub each night was a joy.
